‘안식일에 쉬지 않고 영혼을 살리며 살라!’
본문관찰과 묵상
7일동안 지키는 초막절의 중간에 예수는 하나님의 때인 카이로스를 따라 성전에 올라가 진리를 가르쳤다. 정식으로 율법을 배우지않아 무식한줄 알았던 예수의 가르침에 놀랬다. 예수는 하나님이 주신 교훈을 가르쳤다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
그것은 자신의 영광을 위함이 아닌 하나님의 영광을 위함이었다. 유대인은 모세로부터 받은 율법을 지키지 않았다. 왜? 그들은 남자애기가 태어난 8일째 할례를 행했는데 안식일과 겹치면 모세이전 아브라함때부터 전승된 할례의 법을 지키려고 모세의 율법인 안식일을 어기면서 할례를 행했다.
결단과 적용
그런데 안식일에 할례정도가 아니라 38년된 병자의 생명을 살린 예수가 안식일을 어겼다고 모세의 율법대로 죽이려 하니 공의로 하지 않고 외모로 판단하는 유대인들을 책망했던 것이다. 율법도 결국 사람을 살리려 하는 법정신이 먼저인데 그 동기를 무시하고 겉에 나타난 것으로 판단함을 사람의 생각이 아닌 하나님의 사랑의 법으로 꾸짖었던 것이다. 나는 오늘 사람을 외모로 판단해 죽이려 하는가? 아니면 사람을 살리려 율법을 뛰어넘는 공의로 사랑으로 판단하는가? 사람을 죄에서 구원해 살리는 동기는 율법을 뛰어넘어 안식일에도 하나님은 영혼을 살리시며 일하시니 나도 살리려 안식일에도 할례정도가 아니라 살리는 복음을 계속 전하며 살아간다. 나는 안식일에도 모세의 율법을 어김이 아니라 영혼을 사랑하기에 설교하고 복음전하며 사랑으로 율법을 완성하며 산다. 이것이 나의 삶이다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Jesus went up to the temple of God in Jerusalem according to God’s time, kairos and began to teach the Truth on the halfway day during the 7days of the Festival of the Tabernacle. Jews were amazed by the teaching of Jesus because they knew that Jesus did not learn the Jewish Law officially at the Law school. Jesus began to teach the teaching of God, not his own nor the teaching of people.

Jesus’ teaching was not for his own glory but God’s. Jews did not keep the law. How? They broke Moses’ law by circumcising baby boys if their 8th day of circumcision was overlapping on Sabbath. They deserved to be killed because they did work on Sabbath. They broke the law to keep Jewish tradition of circumcision from the time of Abraham.
Decisions and applications
Therefore, Jesus rebuked the Jews who tried to kill him because they judged that Jesus broke the law by reviving a sick person who was suffering for 38 years on Sabbath while Jews themselves broke Moses’ law on Sabbath to keep Jewish tradition of circumcision that they judged people by mere appearances not by justice correctly. In other words, Jesus rebuked Jews who judged people only by appearance not by justice motivated by the love of God that the spirit of the law was to save people not by human standard but God’s standard of love. Do I judge people by appearance to kill them? Or by the love of Jesus to save them as I apply God’s love to save beyond the judgment of the law which only convicts sins of people. Since God is still working by breaking the law even on Sabbath to save people I will work to save sinners even on Sabbath by preaching the gospel of Jesus beyond practicing circumcision to give baby boys the mark of Jews but the mark of salvation. Therefore, I work hardly today by preaching and witnessing my Savior and Lord Jesus not to break the law on Sabbath but to complete all the law by the love of God so that people may be saved on Sabbath for God’s glory. That is my life!
