‘부활을 믿는자는 예수의 죽음을 준비한다’
본문관찰과 묵상
유월절 엿새 전에 마리아는 노동자의 일년치 년봉값인 나드 향유 한 옥합을 깨어 예수의 발에 붓고 머리털로 그 발을 닦았다. 가룟 유다는 낭비한다 비난했지만 돈을 훔치려고 팔으라고 했다. 예수는 자신의 죽음을 준비한 것이라고 했다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
마리아는 예수가 죽은 오빠 나사로를 부활시킨 사건으로 예수님이 죽어도 다시 사실 것을 믿었다. 향유 옥합을 부어 예수님이 유월절 어린양으로 죽으실 것과 부활하실 것을 유월절 엿새 전에 미리 깨닫고 준비했다.
결단과 적용
일년치의 연봉을 아낌없이 예수께 드린 것은 나사로를 살려준 은혜에 감사함이 있었다. 그리고 감사를 뛰어넘는 부활의 신앙의 고백으로 예수의 죽으심과 부활을 믿는 믿음을 선포했다. 유월절에 유대인들은 형식적이 종교의식을 위해 모였지만 마리아는 유월절 어린양의 죽으심과 부활을 믿음으로 선포했다. 나는 오늘도 부활의 영광을 위하여 잘 죽는 하루를 살아간다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Six days before the Passover, Maria poured a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume, which was equivalent to one man’s yearly income on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. Judas Iscariot, who was the treasurer criticized that Mary wasted it. She should have sold it for the poor, but actually he wanted to steal the money. Jesus told people to leave Mary alone because she prepared his death.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Mary believed that if Jesus died, he would be resurrected as she witnessed Jesus raised her brother Lazarus. Six days before the Passover, Mary had assurance that Jesus would die as a Passover Lamb and then Jesus would resurrect for sure for all sinners. Therefore, she prepared the death of Jesus by pouring such an expensive perfume on Jesus.
Decisions and applications
Out of thankfulness to Jesus for his raising her dead brother Lazarus, Mary offered such and expensive perfume on Jesus, which was equivalent to one man’s yearly income. Furthermore, her performance was to confess her faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus as the Passover Lamb beyond her thanksgiving to Jesus. Jews were gathering for religious formal Passover Festival. However, Mary publically declared her faith in the death and resurrection of the Passover Lamb for all people. Therefore, today, I do my best to die well to be resurrected with Jesus for the glory of God.
